When it rains, it pours. Ask Shilpa Shetty whose life couldn’t get more exciting even if she tried. On the threshold of getting married to beau Raj Kundra, which is expected to happen anytime between the end of this year and the beginning of next, Shilpa is busy putting her dream homes in Mumbai and London in order. Fortunately for Shilpa, both the homes are almost ready.
Shilpa said, “It’s been an extremely taxing time. Thank God for my interior decorators in Mumbai and London who made my dream homes a reality.”
In Mumbai, Shilpa has two homes ready to be used after marriage. “We’ve a home right opposite the Bachchans’ residence and another one at Ruia Park. We’ve decided to make the Ruia Park bungalow our home. Sussanne Roshan (Hrithik’s wife) has almost finished doing it up for us,” said the delighted actress.
Interestingly, the bungalow is right next to Indian Premier League’s Lalit Modi in Mumbai. Shilpa laughed and said, “In fact we share a common wall. Quite significant, don’t you think?”
Speaking of their spacious seven-bedroom London home situated in one of England’s most upper-class residential colonies, Shilpa said, “Our home in London is at St Georges Hill, Weybridge. Raj bought this old heritage home on a sprawling land full of trees and greenery. We left all the greenery intact but we completely broke down the old home and rebuilt a new one. Raj got a Russian interior designer to do up the place. We’ve named our love nest Fortune Manor. Raj’s parents will be staying with us at Fortune Manor. While building the home, we also had to keep in mind that we will be having children,” added Shilpa.
Shilpa intends to divide her time between her Mumbai and London homes after marriage. “I can never settle down in London. Mumbai is going to be Raj and my first home. This is where we want our children to be brought up. While Raj’s parents will stay in both our homes in London and Mumbai, we intend to go to London during long holidays.”
Shilpa is also relieved after Raj’s former wife Kavita issued a public letter admitting Shilpa was in no way responsible for breaking up their marriage. Shilpa said, “You’ve no idea how much that letter has taken off my shoulder. To be called a home-breaker was really weighing on my conscience. I won't say the letter has removed a hurdle to my marriage with Raj. Nothing can come between Raj and me. But yes, I feel far more at peace with myself and my relationship with Raj."
And believe it or not, Shilpa has more to look forward to - the engagement
ceremony for which Raj has ordered the hugest rock possible. Some girls have all the luck.
